Cambarellus blacki – Cypress Dwarf Crayfish

This rare crayfish have only been discovered in two locations in the entire world, and it appears that they have been extirpated from one of those locations. Fortunately they are easy to breed in captivity so their future is secure in captivity. Like other dwarf crayfish, this species tolerate crowding.

Cambarellus puer – Boy’s Cancer

This is a species erroneously sold as Cambarellus texanus in the market. Like other dwarf crayfish these tolerate crowding and wide range of water parameter. This particular stock was collected from a roadside ditch just outside of Dahomey NWR.

Cambarellus schufeldtii – Cajun Dwarf Crayfish

As name suggests, this species don’t get large. Adults stay around 1~1.1” in length. These tolerate wide range of water parameter and unlike most crayfish they can tolerate crowding. This particular stock was collected from a roadside ditch in Coden, Alabama.

Cambarus striatus – Ambiguous Crayfish

As the scientific name suggests, juveniles have beautiful stripe running on their back. They lose the stripe as they grow, but they make up for it with size. Adults typically get 2.5 ~ 3” in length.

Very large and colorful crayfish found in the swamps of the southeastern United States. Adults typically grow to 3” from head to tail.
