This delightful isopod is packed with color from birth to adulthood. Juveniles are light mustard yellow with intense yellow flecks and age to a beautiful mix of gray bordering, dark gray to black body color, and plenty of bright yellow spots along the top and sides of their back. This species can be found from at least southern France to northwestern Italy. They do well under similar conditions as the common roly poly although the adult size of Gestro’s dotty roly-poly is longer and broader overall. Adult males tend to be darker gray than the females but this isn’t always the case.
