After six years of teasing brightly colored phenotypes out of “Orin’s Calicoes” in search of a true-breeding orange that is not simple recessive, the end result of my failures is the beautiful “Sherbert” strain. These are perhaps the most colorful scaber line and the yellows and oranges really scream in person. Unique among current lines is the stark color sexual dimorphism in fully grown individuals; females are neon yellow to pale orange, while males are always deep orange. There are no gray tones or traces of dark flecking in this line. This project has been a labor of love and I’m still working tirelessly to create a non simple recessive orange from this line!
