Several years ago a friend sent me an adult female sand roach he collected while bug hunting in Arizona. The exact location was kept a secret, but he was willing to disclose the county information. After a year of waiting on edge to see if the colony would thrive or crash, my first set of captive adults matured and reproduced more than enough to keep the culture going. Now, it is finally time to share this species with the world! This species has similar care needs as the Tonkawa sand roach but is more tolerant of moisture. Adult females range in color from dark purple to blood red, and the salt-and-pepper color nymphs create an appealing contrast between the immatures and adults.
