Detailed Species Stats -Click-
This beautiful species is an excellent feeder for any insectivore. The bright colors and erratic movements of the adults will trigger even the pickiest eater to strike. Unlike the adults, the nymphs are dark brown and prefer to burrow. Due to their flying prowess, care should be exercised when opening the lid to a large colony! NOTE: In fall 2020 after receiving wild caught Panchlora nivea and after much deliberation it was determined that this is NOT true nivea. The shape of the male subanal plate is rounded versus angular in true nivea. Adults are smaller and more rotund than nivea, which are lankier and longer. This species has been traded for decades as nivea and the original collection information for this strain may never be found. Until an identity is determined the strain name will be relabeled “Hobby” and the common name “rotund” in reference to the male’s subanal plate.
