When I entered the roach hobby many years ago, I remember seeing pictures of a unique hissing cockroach on the Allpet Roaches page. Despite being an eager novice, I hesitated on purchasing some for fear that I would not succeed with them. After a few months of roach rearing, I finally decided to ask one of the well-known breeders at the time about purchasing some; much to my dismay, his culture had fizzled out. For several years I searched for them, every time coming up empty handed. It wasn’t until recently that I acquired a few nymphs from someone who had been secretly breeding them this whole time. Now, years after my initial search, I would like to make them available to everyone. The V-horn hisser is unique among the “dwarf” hissers in that it gets quite large; some individuals are larger than common Madagascar hissers! The nymphs begin life a dusty black color; as they age they color up ever so slightly. Only at adulthood do they gain their striking red, orange, black, and yellow hues.
