All the fun of the smooth roach, only with both sexes fully winged! This species seems to grow a little larger, and the orange color of some adults can be particularly striking.
This strain was isolated by Auburn University and given to me by a friend. Colonies produce a variety of colors ranging from red to chocolate to jet black; culling may be necessary to retain the desired colors.

Yes, this is the infamous German roach. I recommend this species only for dedicated hobbyists willing to work with one of the world's peskiest bugs. To reduce the risk of any of escapes, I keep mine in a completely sealed container. These roaches breed like roaches!

For those who just don't like the idea of culturing American roaches, there is the brown roach. Although almost identical to the American roach, this species prefers a tropical climate and is less adaptable. However, the nymphs of this species are much more colorful than those of the American cockroach, and the adults can have some interesting pronotum markings.
