Spring 2016 Update and More
Greetings once more everyone!
By the calendar, spring is upon us (though a look out the window suggests otherwise).
The last few months have been a difficult time for me for multiple personal reasons as I settle into what some may call the “adult life.” I am proud to announce that Roach Crossing is now officially an LLC, at the expense of much time, sweat, tears, and even a little blood. In staunch adherence to my ethics regarding animal husbandry, the bulk of my time has been devoted to keeping everyone well-fed, clean, reproducing, and content, often at the cost of my correspondence time. Coupling this with some newly incurred responsibilities and a lack of good coffee has created the perfect storm for a flooded inbox. For those with inquiries and questions in the waiting, I must apologize for my lengthened silence. I will be tending to e-mails intently over the next few days and hope to have the queue emptied by the following week.
In other news, I am readying the spring update which should be set to air by mid May. The early 2015 update, which brought the site up to its current formatting, was the largest mechanical change Roach Crossing has seen to date. This spring’s update will be primarily inventory based and should introduced over 60 species of invertebrate entirely new to Roach Crossing. As the site’s focus has been (and will remain) cockroaches, I will continue to create full species pages for each new blattodean added, while some other invertebrates will be added on an ever-changing invertebrate inventory page. As always, any questions regarding the husbandry of these species will remain welcome.
Looking forward to the summer months, Roach Crossing and several eager enthusiasts/naturalists will be heading to the grasslands of Arizona in July to collect some of our country’s most beautiful, rarest, and under-kept invertebrates. The two week plus trek will surely test our grit and skill, but I am confident in our abilities as a team.
Thank you again for reading, and I will connect with you soon,
