After many years this strain has been found to be a unique line of Byrsotria fumigata different from the nominate form. The males have two wing types; short and long (long is pictured above.) This species reproduces at approximately the same rate as Blaptica dubia. However, the males (far right) are shorter but fatter while the females (middle right) are overall larger. They cannot climb or fly and reproduce best with a substrate.
