1/6/2022: Magnificent news
It only took nine months, but I have finally propagated Pseudoglomeris magnifica “Cuc Phuong”!
A few days ago while raiding the bin for springtails, I noticed some chubby babies hanging out near the food pile. I was quite astonished at their size, as they’re very chunky and sizable for newborns.
While getting some pictures a few days later, I noticed one of the females was walking a little weird. Upon closer inspection I realized babies were clinging to her underside, and as she hauled herself to the other side of the bark, a few babies “dripped” off.
I -try- to love all roaches equally but these shiny guys are living up to their hype and then some. With the coming roach dump, I will be ambitiously adding their page to the site. It seems within a month or two I may have plenty to go around, and I’m happy to share the love.
I also noticed that in just the right light (in this case, from the setting winter sun) their metallic exoskeleton will actually show some light blue. Blue roaches are hard to come by in culture (young adult Gyna caffrorum will have a steely blue tint at times and some Panchlora sp. may have blue highlights), so seeing my favorite color on another roach was something special.
Stay posted for updates and their eventual care page!
