4/20/2021: Spring snow sucks and other sentiments
Just when I thought we were out of winter for good, around noon today it started snowing. It’s quite surreal to see all of the flowers and leafing out trees under a dusting of snow, but equally aggravating considering how warm it’s been. Other than throwing a wrench into otherwise straightforward spring shipping, this annoyance should resolve itself soon enough and our flora and fauna will be on a fast track to summer standards in no time.
In other news, the increased number of e-mails I’ve been receiving over the last few months presents a double-edged problem. I’ve been able to keep up with things over winter but with increased site traffic comes the snowballing (pun intended) issue of more and more work on finite time. While I have two lovely assistants for heavy duty days, in the very near future if Roach Crossing is going to continue to grow at its current pace I’ll inevitably be looking into more full time help. This will be brand new territory for me and I’m nervous about the associated risks but eager for the freedom to focus more time on figuring out new husbandry techniques and continuing to talk with and sell to all the lovely people who have made this dream a reality. Decisions, decisions.
