2/26/2022: A meeting of epic proportions
Last Sunday I was willingly dragged down to that most cursed place, the state of Ohio, by Kai to pick up some bugs from vanguard invertebrate master Orin McMonigle. Orin has been around the bug hobby since long before many, and some of the strains and species that are mainstays today are the results of his culture techniques and selective breeding work. I spent many hours of my roachy youth pestering Orin for tips, info, and advice, and though I haven’t had a direct line to do so for some time, it was wonderful to finally meet him and pick up some new stuff.
It was pleasant for the three of us to have a lively invertebrate discussion at the expo, though I think our bug folk aggregation was an inconvenience to the hordes trying to pick through the reptiles at the nearby vendor tables. I was quite impressed with the availability at the Cleveland expo, so much so that I may return more willingly to a future expo.
