5/4/2021: Background ablazin’
With some code edits thanks to my good friend Maddie I’ve had the opportunity to post some pictures from my insect and other related travels. The current background picture was taken in Redland (Redlands to locals), Florida as we were being guided by novel invertebrate enthusiast Carlos Michaelsen to some of his special spots for some rare and unique species of this vast and sprawling agricultural zone. I was assured the inferno off in the distance was a controlled burn, either of farmland or the Everglades, which is an environment where fire is a very natural, important, and frequent phenomenon.
While adding the background and seeing the home page aflame I thought… Boy this looks a little foreboding. However I’ve decided to leave the image up as it was a truly beautiful vista and I feel it reflects the uniqueness and perplexing nature of the wilds of Florida.
