6/12/2023: Blooms in June
I perpetually exist in the space between being critical of man-made abominations and admiring them as works of human ingenuity coupled with the flexibility of nature. On a whim I purchased a dirt cheap throwaway rose bush from the Menard’s garden section last year, hoping to propagate as a host plant for various insects.
I have been pleasantly surprised at the ease of growing this rose, and other than some sawflies which I picked off for chicken food, it has been fairly resilient. Though the total domination rose garden aesthetic disgusts me, I can see the value of a few horticultural monstrosities for a gush of extra color and a healthy floral snack
