6/6/2022: Another bustling week with updates
For those who haven’t watched last week’s livestream, I’m coming off the heels of both my parents contracting covid and needing frequent care which has set back many of the day-in, day-out operations at Roach Crossing. Fortunately both my parents are doing well now, but my assistant also independently contracted covid and it’s likely I will be running things solo for the rest of the week. I appreciate everyone’s patience during these times; few folks realize that Roach Crossing is a tiny company, and I its only full time employee currently. Work time must be carefully divided between e-mails, order packing, setting up new projects, maintaining cultures… I get anxious just typing that out! By 2024 I plan to have one more full time and maybe a part time employee, but sustainable inventory and business growth have always been my goal and I avoid debt like the plague (or perhaps more suitably, covid).
Due to a myriad of factors, I won’t be able to go collecting in Florida this June as I had planned (though the big west trip this August is still a go pending disaster), but I have decided that after months of the work grind and with some time already designated to not being the bug room, I’ll be taking a drastically needed vacation from June 17th to about June 24th. During this time I’ll likely do an e-mail day and have interim maintenance to do, but I will be taking some time to enjoy the weather, catch up on house and yard maintenance, as well as spend time with a special someone. I’ll update the home page in a few days with additional information snippets.
Thank you all for your patience, and I should be all caught up by the end of this week.
