Say’s ornate harvestmen are great icebreakers for those frightened by arachnids: they are slow-moving, attractively colored, and have cute little eyes. Adults are very easy to keep as pets and will readily consume fish flakes and insect bits. Breeding is a little trickier, requiring many hiding places for the babies as well as abundant live food to distract the adults.  Shining a black light on the adults will cause the lines on their bodies to fluoresce, reminding me of the Pokémon, Groudon. For years this species was misidentified as ornatus, however true ornatus have spiny projections on their opisthosoma and have smaller, more southern range than sayi.
