The Asian wood roach is so similar to our native wood roaches that the two were once classified in the same genus! The active adults can climb, and the males can fly (though they don’t do so often). The nymphs do not climb or burrow, though they enjoy hiding under loose cover. Though my initial experience with this species suggested it could be bred readily as a feeder, recent experience suggest otherwise; I now recommend the similar Parcoblatta fulvescens as an equal feeder alternative.
