Detailed Species Stats -Click-
These exquisite roaches are found throughout the extreme southeastern United States and are probably endemic to that part of the Caribbean. There are numerous color forms across their range and while the habitat varies from pine hammocks to seaside, they are usually associated with trees (living or dead) and could be considered arboreal. This is another species with teleportation abilities and is perhaps the fastest cockroach being nearly impossible to catch in the wild. Those with the patience and reflexes to keep this species are rewarded with an extremely attractive roach packed with color and contrast, earning the “Gem” in its name. Ooths of this species hatch dependent on humidity and temperature; it is possible to get them to hatch within weeks of being laid with high temperatures and frequent watering, or to postpone their hatching many months by keeping them drier. This particular strain was collected in a mangrove forest on Key Largo.
