Despite the devastating loss of the rufipes/discoidalis species in captivity, in recent years we have been graced with two new assassin mimics to fill the void. The lyrate assassin mimic is an adorable tiny species that directly contrasts with the larger formosana in culture. Care for the two is similar though lyrata seems to prefer drier conditions; regardless, ventilation seems to be the most important factor in colony health. The contrasting earth purple wings, jagged pronotum stripes, and subtle wing squares create a unique look possessed by few other captive roaches.
