This promising species reproduces comparably to Pycnoscelus surinamensis, only both sexes are present. The males can climb and flutter but the females and nymphs cannot do either. Adult females are shiny dark purple/black and have no wings. The nymphs start off light yellow and gradually darken. They need a substrate to feel comfortable.
