10/25/2023: Month-Long December Sabbatical for Major Site Overhaul
The highly anticipated (and dreaded) time is drawing near: Roach Crossing is getting ready for its first overhaul in almost a decade! Every single species page will be updated with current information based on years of experience, the search function will be streamlined, hundreds of species profiles will be added, new macro photos will showcase each species/strain, and sorting for the bugs you’re looking for should be even easier.
Adding all of these features will take days and I’ve decided the most efficient way to accomplish this is to take a month off to focus. Taking time off to work on the cockroach husbandry guide proved very rewarding and fruitful and I feel that level of time commitment is necessary to get the site where I want it. Fortunately for me our current head of web development and code master extraordinaire works for peanuts (or perhaps peanut beetles which I haven’t told him about yet but which he will be receiving upon request) so at the moment I just need to worry about my own existence expenses.
The goal is to raise $4,000 to justify abandoning sales, shipping, e-mails, etc. for a month. I will still do husbandry during this time, since there’s no getting around that. Updates on the amount raised will be posted to the Roach Crossing home page.
After donating, please confirm your donation via email so that you may be thanked on the website post-update!
Even the smallest donation helps and I’m extremely grateful for the cast of characters who’ve supported my endeavors over the years. This will probably be the last overhaul to Roach Crossing for a long time and I’m certain the information and resources provided will be more useful than ever to those accessing the site.
Thank you!
